The Costa Rican government says that a plane with 10 foreigners and two local crewmembers has crashed in a wooded area. The Public Safety Ministry has posted photographs and video of the crash site showing burning wreckage of the plane in Guanacaste, northwest Costa Rica. Sunday's statement says there were 10 foreigners and two Costa Rican crew members aboard the plane belonging to Nature Air, which had taken off nearby. Showtime’s White Famous is coming to an end after one season only. The network has decided not to continue with a second season of the half-hour comedy series. The decision to pull the plug is most likely due to the series’ low viewership numbers, drawing a small audience of 2 million viewers on all platforms. The star of the show, Saturday Night Live’s alum Jay Pharaoh, played an African-American comedian named Floyd Mooney struggling to maintain his core audience while also striving to crossover and becoming “white famous.” This series premiered to mixed reviews but as the episodes continued to air, they mostly received negative reviews. Created by Roland Buddy and Chris Spencer, produced by Lionsgate TV with Jamie Fox among its executive producers who even made several appearances on the show as did other well-known comedians, White Famous had an 8 episode run. A 28-year-old woman identified as Anuoluwapo Joshua has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police command for allegedly stealing a three year old baby, Akamaka Patience Francis, at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp after the man who impregnated her kept asking for his baby. In a statement on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect had stolen the child on July 2017 during the monthly Holy Ghost Congress of the church. Oyeyemi said the mother of the child reported that the child was stolen by an unknown person when she went to pack her children’s clothes in the new auditorium where she had gone for prayers with her husband. China on Thursday waived visas for visitors from 53 countries  to Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei for up to six days, state media said. People’s Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party, said that visitors must enter and exit from one of six ports. According to the Economic Times, the waiver goes into effect from Thursday and will impact Germany and other members of the European Union’s passport-free Schengen area, as well as the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Argentina. Beijing, the capital of China, is a major tourist hub as the home of the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and other important historical monuments. Beijing and Tianjin previously allowed visa-free travel for up to 72 hours for certain nationalities. The same arrangement continues in 16 other cities, including Shanghai. Shenzhen, on the border of Hong Kong, also issues a special five-day visa on arrival for some nationalities. (dpa)

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has issued “a red alert’’ to the world” ahead of the year 2018. In his message on the New Year, Guterres is calling for unity among the global community to tackle overwhelming challenges and defend values shared by all. “On New Year's Day 2018, I am not issuing an appeal. Yusuf and his friend, Bashir Gwandu, were involved in a ghastly accident on December 26th while riding their power bikes in Gwarimpa, Abuja at about 8 pm. According to Sahara Reporters, Yusuf who broke his limb and sustained a head injury in the crash, yesterday indicated to doctors repeatedly about the pain he is having in his hand. Thirty-six people were killed and 11 injured early Sunday morning in a head-on collision between a bus and a lorry on a road in central Kenya, police said. "The death toll is now 36," said Rift Valley traffic police chief Zero Arome, explaining the initial toll of 30 had risen, "after six passengers succumbed to injuries in hospital." The accident occurred at 3:00 am (0000 GMT)close to a notorious stretch on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. A bus travelling from Busia, in western Kenya, collided with a truck coming from Nakuru town. Police said the death toll for that stretch of road has now topped 100 this month alone. Arome said the drivers of both vehicles were among the dead, as well as a three-year-old child, while the injured had been taken to a Nakuru hospital. A 40-year-old cleric has committed suicide at Ungwar Romi area in the Kaduna State capital. Samuel Hamza, until his death was a pastor of a Pentecostal church in the area. He sent himself to an early grave by hanging himself from the fan inside his house. His lifeless body was on Friday night found dangling on a rope inside his room by his neighbours. Although the cause of the suicide act is not yet known, some of the neighbours said that the deceased has been passing through some kind of depression since he lost his wife in 2015. They, however, expressed surprise that he could take his life because of emotional challenges. The late Pastor Hamza, who residents and neighbours described as a gentleman, lost his wife in 2015 who gave him a male child, reports Channels Television.
