INEC has fixed Saturday, February 18, 2023, for the conduct of the next presidential election in the country. INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu made this known at a one-day public hearing on the National Electoral Offences Commission (Establishment) bill 2021 today. Mr Yakubu, according to Punch Newspaper, said the timetable and schedule of activities for the presidential election will be reeled out after the conduct of Anambra governorship election in November 2020. “By the principle established by the Commission, the 2023 General Election will hold on Saturday 18th February 2023 which is exactly one year, nine months, two weeks and six days or 660 days from today,” Mr Yakubu said. “We hope to release the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the General Election immediately after the Anambra Governorship election scheduled to hold on 6th November 2021,” he added. Daniel became a sensation weeks ago after pictures of her selling water at Oshodi emerged on social media and attracted sympathy from Nigerians across the world. Daniel, in an interview, claimed she was an orphan with a baby and an aged grandmother to fend for. She narrated how life dealt her several blows and she had to drop out of school and hit the streets to make ends meet. Following her harrowing tales, Nigerians started donating money through her bank account made public with about N25m raised. This prompted the state government to immediately shelter her to prevent criminals from taking advantage of her sudden fortune. Just few days ago, a celebrity birthday party was held in her honour featuring many cakes, fanfare, photoshoots, among others.

The remains of Dorothy Yohanna, one of the abducted students of Greenfield University Kaduna, has been laid to rest today April 28. Dorothy and an unspecified number of students were abducted by the bandits on April 20. On Friday, April 23, the state government announced it had recovered the bodies of Dorothy and two other students. On Monday, April 26, the state government also announced it had discovered the remains of two more abducted students of the University. Dorothy’s body was laid to rest today April 28. Toke Makinwa has slammed actor Yomi Fabiyi for sympathizing with his colleague, Baba Ijesha, who is currently in police custody for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl when she was just seven. An Australian man who believes he is the secret son of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will take the fight to prove his identity, it has been claimed. Simon Dorante-Day was adopted into a family who had ties to the Queen and lived in Portsmouth, England, when he was a kid. The Police in Anambra have launched an investigation into arsonist attack on the palace of Igwe Emeka Ilouno, the monarch of Ifitedunu in Dunukofia LGA. DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra made the disclosure in a statement on Monday. Ilouno’s palace was set on fire by yet to be unidentified people during which vehicles were also burnt. “I thank God that there is life, my palace was set ablaze in the dead of the night, my jeep was also burnt”, Igwe Ilouno said. Five police officers have been confirmed dead after gunmen suspected to be IPOB/ESN militants attacked the Okigwe South Area command on Monday April 26.
