The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved a multimillion Naira upgrade of key infrastructure at the Lagos Television (LTV) as part of a comprehensive plan to reposition the State-owned television station for national and international competitiveness. According to a release by Mr. Rasaq Musbau, the Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA), the Project Management Team from the Agency recently went on an inspection tour of the complex and expressed satisfaction with the pace of work. He explained that the facility is now a beehive of activities carried out by construction workers to deliver a phased plan to revamp the 41-year-old television station. Musbau stated that the upgrade entails the modernisation of the entire complex as the first step towards a complete turnaround of the station’s facilities. Kaduna State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the assassination of Nigerian Pilot, Mr Abdulkarim Na-Allah, son of Senator Ibn Na’Allah. The Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Mudasiru Abdullahi, disclosed this on Sunday in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige. “I have directed that a full scale investigation be carried out with a view to unraveling the identities of the culprits and bringing them to book,“ the CP said. The 36-year-old pilot was murdered in his Kaduna residence on August 29. “The report has it that the assassins forcefully gained access into the residence of the pilot at Umar Gwandu Road, Malali, Kaduna during the night hours, choked him to death in cold blood and made away with his Lexus SUV to an unknown destination,“ the CP said. Lagos State Ministry of Education has appealed to some parents of Model College students to accept the upward review of the boarding fees, saying it is in the overall interest of the students. Commissioner for Education Mrs Folasade Adefisayo made the plea while addressing the concern of some parents on the review of the boarding fees in the 32 Model Colleges across the State from the 25,000 charged per term at N79.30k per meal for a student in the past 18years. Many parents have shown understanding in the matter. The Ministry had meetings and engagements with the parents’ fora of the model colleges and upgraded schools where reasons for the review were ‘’clearly and unambiguously’’ enumerated. It was agreed that the review of the fees became necessary due to economic realities viz-a-viz the current cost of food stuff, provision of energy, medical care and general school maintenance. How to spot drug abuse in children, according to NDLEA… An official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Debowale Adegbite, has urged parents to watch out for withdrawal symptoms, to know when their children are abusing drugs. In particular, parents should be mindful of changes in the temperament of their children as it is a key indicator of drug abuse. Adegbite gave the advice at the Amuwo/Odofin Constituency 2, Lagos State House of Assembly 7th Annual Constituency stakeholder meeting in Lagos. The meeting, with the theme, “Increasing wave of drug abuse: A threat to nation building,” was an interface between electorate and their representatives.
