Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a socio-cultural association, has kicked against the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB to protest the arrest and detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu was arrested in Kenya on June 27 and extradited to Nigeria on June 29 and has been in DSS custody since then. IPOB in a statement released few days ago, announced that it will enforce a lockdown every Monday in the South-east until Kanu is released. The Police Service Commission has said it could dismiss Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, if it carries out its investigation and finds him guilty in the $1.1million Hushpuppi internet fraud. Kyari has been accused of receiving bribe from Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi to arrest and jail a member of his online fraud gang identified as Chibuzo Vincent following a dispute that arose from a $1.1m fraudulent operation the carried out. Kyari was also accused of allegedly sending Abbas bank account details to deposit payment for Vincent’s arrest and imprisonment. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), the independent body created by the World Athletics that manages all integrity issues for the sport, announced the decision on Friday. The Central Bank of Nigeria has directed Deposit Monetary Banks (DMBs) in Nigeria to create mobile applications and alert systems to update customers of their foreign exchange movement. This comes after the CBN banned sales of forex to Bureau de Change operators and directed DMBs to establish teller points to fulfill legitimate forex requests from customers. The new directive was contained in a circular signed by the Director, Banking Supervision Department, Haruna Mustafa with the reference number: BSD/DIR/PUB/LAB/14/082. CBN also warned banks to ensure that no customer is turned back or refused foreign exchange provided that documentation and all other requirements are satisfied equally. It also warned that undue delays, rationing and diversion of foreign exchange would not be tolerated, adding that banks must establish electronic applications and alert systems to update customers on status of their foreign exchange requests. He will also pay $975,863 in restitution to multiple victims for conspiracy to commit money laundering. The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) on Monday issued a three-day Removal Notice to all owners of makeshift structures, shanties, kiosks and vehicles at Maroko and Lekki Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos.
