Oscar Isaac is in talks to star in the upcoming Dune reboot.  Should he join, he will star opposite Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, and Charlotte Rampling. Issac is in talks to star as Duke Leto Atreides, which could mean he would play Chalamet’s on-screen father. Ferguson has been cast as Chalamet’s mother, Lady Jessica, while Skarsgard has been cast as the family’s enemy Baron Harkonnen. The reboot hails from Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. Villeneuve will also co-write the script with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts.  The reboot is a big-screen adaptation to the 1965 science-fiction novel by Frank Herbert. The first (failed) attempt, however, to adapt the novel belongs to director Alejandro Jodorowsky in the ‘70s. A successful attempt came in 1984 from David Lynch. Alain Lobognan . an Ivorian lawmaker  and ex-sports minister has been sentenced to one year in jail and fined $520 (£400) for spreading fake news that incited violence. Alain had tweeted on January 9th that the state prosecutor had ordered the arrest of a fellow MP.  But the prosecutor said this was not the case and the tweet had caused demonstrations and violent clashes. Vanessa Williams has been tapped to star in ABC’s upcoming family comedy pilot.  The Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty alumna has nabbed the lead role opposite Matt Walsh and JoAnna Garcia Swisher. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the single-camera comedy follows two Pittsburgh families — a father (Walsh) with three adult daughters (Swisher will play the eldest) and a hotel lounge singer (Williams) with her son — who are forced together after a decades-old secret is revealed. Sheri the lounge singer is described as a diva with no money who had one hit in the late ‘80s. Her son is the most important thing in her life, but her career is a closesecond. The series hails from Modern Family writers Abraham Higginbotham and Jon Pollack. The two will also exec produce alongside pilot helmer Kat Coiro.
