Previously it was tied with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet , which ran for 14 seasons. Now, the FX series has earned its place in history after it’s set to run for a 15 Season through 2021. Last month, creator, executive producer, and star Rob McElhenney revealed that he began writer Season 15. The Venice Film Festival is set to go ahead as scheduled from September 2-12. The region’s governor Luca Zaia said the world’s longest-running film festival marks the first major film industry event that hasn’t been postponed or canceled due to the coronavirus. The CW will have to recast a new lead for Batwoman after Ruby Rose has chosen to exit the series ahead of the second season. It’s unclear why Rose decided to leave the show and in a statement, she said “I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season. This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew, and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.” Rose’s groundbreaking role was the first gay lead character, male or female, of a live-action superhero series. The series is interested in casting another LGBTQ actress as the lead role. The hit singing competition has been renewed for season 4.  Multiple outlets report that ABC has ordered another season of American Idol but the network has yet to reveal whether the judges — Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, as well as host Ryan Seacrest, are set to return. The renewal and a fourth season of the talent contest will bring the total number of seasons for the format to 19 having previously aired on Fox between 2002-2016. Jerry Stiller, the veteran actor and comedian has died due to natural causes. He was 92.  His son, actor Ben Stiller, announced the death on Twitter on Monday. “I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather,  and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.” Best known for his role as Frank Costanza in Seinfeld , Stiller launched his career in the 1950s. He most recently played Arthur on the hit sitcom King of Queens. The CW has unveiled the official full (and extended!) trailer for the seventh and final season of the long-running post-apocalyptic drama series. The season will premiere May 20. The Hotel California Tour has been postponed — again.  Due to the ongoing pandemic and the ensuing shutdowns, the Eagles’ six-city tour has been pushed to 2021. This is a second delay of the tour that was originally set for March 17 to April 26 this year and then rescheduled for late summer and early fall following the Coronavirus crisis.  According to Deadline , the tour’s 12 stops remain the same — which means same locations and same time of year, but next year. First came Ariana Grande’s performance of “I Won’t Say I’m in Love,” and now we learn that a Hercules live-action remake is officially in the works.  The Hollywood Reporter was first to report that Disney has put into development a live-action remake of its 1997 animated movie  Hercules . According to the outlet, Dave Callaham will pen the script, while Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War filmmakers, Joe and Anthony Russo, are set to produce via their AGBO banner. HBO has renewed Insecure for a fifth season.  The premium cabler has picked up the Issa Rae comedy for season five three weeks after its season four premiere. Rae, who created the show, heads the ensemble cast, which also includes Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, and Alexander Hodge. “We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice, and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world.” Across its four seasons, the series, inspired by Rae’s web series Awkward Black Girl, has averaged a 95% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. USA Network has canceled Dare Me after one season only.  Multiple outlets report that there will not be a second season of the series based on the novel of the same name by Megan Abbott.  The series delved into the cutthroat world of competitive high school cheerleading. It followed the fraught relationship between two best friends after a new coach arrived to bring their team to prominence. While the girls’ friendship is put to the test, their young lives are changed forever when a shocking crime rocks their quiet suburban world. The series starred Willa Fitzgerald as the coach and Herizen Guardiola and Marlo Kelly as the best friends. Additional series regulars included Rob Heaps and Paul Fitzgerald. The fourth installment in the film franchise based on the Hasbro action figure toy line is officially in the works.  Multiple outlets confirm that another G.I. Joe film is en route from Paramount Pictures. The announcement of a fourth installment comes a few months before the third movie in the franchise, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins , premieres this October.  The film franchise was launched in 2009. The first two films, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra grossed a combined $678 million at the worldwide box office. Not much is known about the upcoming project, but according to Variety , the studio is in negotiations to tap the talents of writing duo Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse to pen the script. The Greatest Dancer will not return for a third season.  A spokeswoman for the BBC has confirmed that Simon Cowell’s dance format, his first project with the network following Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor, has confirmed the cancelation.  In a statement, she said: “Whilst there are no plans for a further series of The Greatest Dancer, we are proud of the show and would like to thank everyone involved in bringing so many memorable moments to BBC One.” The show saw undiscovered dancers mentored by dance captains Cheryl Tweedy, Oti Mabuse, Matthew Morrison, and Todrick Hall.  The second season saw a major drop in ratings, drawing a reported 2.8 million viewers for its final month, per Variety.
